Excel in Typing Test (Hindi/English)

Caution: Don't try to change your typing habits before 3 days of exam, if you've already gained sufficient speed to crack exam & stop typing anymore before 24hrs of exam.

All the tips given here are based on self-typing-experiences.

My Typing Speed in English is 56wpm & in Hindi (Mangal Inscript) is 35wpm

Tips:

For Typist having 30wpm+ speed:

*You can practice on : Typeracer.com10fastfingers.com

*Look for next word while you're typing instead the word you're currently typing. This increases your speed up to 50wpm.

*Review your Keyboard to revisit the position of punctuation marks & special characters.

* Type with normal speed with as accurate as you can be. (Don't put pressure on your mind for speed or for accuracy as you'll get it automatically)

*Have a good relaxed posture with touching palms only

For Beginners:

*Learn Touch Typing by MS Typing Master or by websites: typingbaba.com, typingwala.com, merityping.com

*Practice a lot first increase your accuracy than speed up to 2 times as required.

*While practicing try to create same environment as in exam hall - noisy, keyboard, desk and chair at certain height. On merityping with typing sound you can turn on typing sounds may help in real exam to get rid of nervousness aroused by typing sound in exam hall.

*Don't be nervous in exam hall while typing it increases errors as you're pressured to increase you speed. But remember the speed doesn't matter, it's the accuracy. Also don't pressurize yourself for accuracy too. Your practice will make you remain calm, so practice well.

For Hindi typing

*Always stick to only one Keyboard-Layout which is required in exam, if there are two exams requiring different layouts then you've to leave one if there isn't more than 15 days to get accustomed to new layout.

*There are four layouts in Hindi: Mangal Inscript (Mostly used & in SSC Steno), Remington Gail (in CRPF etc.), Remington CBI (SSC Steno), Kruti Dev (in private institutes, & rarely in some govt jobs) You must know which is yours in typing test.

*Always read notification in detail to point out: Whether Backspace is allowed? if yes then it's for anywhere in para or for only the last word being typed? Whether highlighting and auto scroll will be enabled? Will you be given printed matter or matter on-screen? How much errors are admissible? etc.

Your suggestions and questions are always be welcomed.
Thanks for giving your precious time.
